If you upgrade to the Pro tier, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your billing information. We do not store your full credit card details on our servers.

Poll Data

We store the content of the polls you create (titles, descriptions, questions, options) and the logic associated with them (access controls, expiry dates).

Voting Data

When you vote on a poll, we collect:

• The options you selected.
• Your name (if provided manually or pulled from your logged-in account).
• An anonymous browser fingerprint or session ID to enforce response limits and prevent duplicate voting.

Contact Lists (Pro Feature)

If you use the Contact Lists feature, we store the email addresses and names of the contacts you upload. We only use this data to send poll invitations on your behalf and do not use your contact lists for our own marketing purposes or share them with third parties.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• To provide, maintain, and improve the core functionality of ShowOfHands.xyz.
• To manage your account and process payments.
• To send you transactional emails (e.g., welcome emails, poll closed notifications, live vote alerts).
• To enforce our terms, prevent abuse, and protect the integrity of the voting system.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate our app (e.g., Stripe for payments, Resend for emails, Google for authentication, Hetzner for hosting). These providers only have access to the information necessary to perform their specific functions.
• Poll Creators: If you vote on a poll, the creator of that poll can see your vote and your provided name/email (if the poll is configured to collect that data).
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, we may disclose your information to comply with a subpoena, court order, or legal process.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information and poll data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the service. If you choose to delete your account via the Settings page, your personal data will be permanently removed from our active databases. Some data may remain in secure, encrypted backups for a limited time before being fully purged.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, manage your session, and prevent duplicate voting. We do not use third-party tracking cookies for advertising purposes.
